Lexus 0 to 60: Atlanta

Shaq granted wishes in Kazaam, OJ played a role in The Naked Gun 2-1/2, Kareem traversed the great blue yonder in Airplane!, Jordan co-starred with Bugs in Space Jam, and Tyson was, well, Tyson in The Hangovers 1 & 2. All have been great performers in their respective fields who tried something a bit different from their norms. That’s what Lexus is doing with its digital series 0 to 60: Atlanta.

Now in its second season, two teams compete against one another for not only bragging rights, but a chance for one sole player to win a year lease for the Lexus of their choice, making more at stake than just the celebrities’ egos.

Hosted by Atlanta’s V-103 FM radio on-air personality, Big Tigger, Team Pruett and Team Hawksworth exercised their driving skills in an auto-cross challenge, slide and slalom challenge, and essess challenge, then culminated their capabilities on Road Atlanta’s complete race track. The competition was fierce and so was the trash talking.

“It’s been fun seeing that camaraderie, but also that competitiveness comes out in all the guys,” stated Scott Pruett, champion race car driver and coach of Team Pruett. They really want to up their game to compete head-to-head. I mean, these guys are competitive.”

Team Pruett consisted of Lamman Rucker (Greenleaf),

Redaric Williams (The Quad), and Tia Norfleet (the first registered Black NASCAR driver).

Keith Robinson (Power Rangers, Saints & Sinners), J.D. Williams (The Wire, Saints & Sinners), and Carmelita Jeter (Olympic medalist sprinter) made up Team Hawksworth with Lexus factory driver, Jack Hawksworth at the helm.

Most importantly, the tools of choice consist of the 467-hp Lexus RC F and GS F, and Lexus’ flagship coupe, the 92-grand, 471-hp LC 500.
